Here are my thoughts on the Lupifaro Platinum tenor sax , hand made by Luca Cardinali . after seven intensive play testing days and two gigs, one was a mellow sax and guitar duo and the 2nd was a full on 6 piece band which I'm in a three part section.

He uses a Couf 4 with 2.5 Rico reeds. This has been his setup for 20+ years. He reveals this info on his DVD - Sound Production for Saxophone. If I had his sound on alto, I wouldn't change it either. The only disagreement I have with Wally is the quality of the V1 neck. But Wally did a damn fine job of putting an excellent video together.

Gaston....a price point of $180 for a reliable Alto saxophone is not realistic.Neither in a new horn (which will be a piece of crap, like a Mendini) or a used one. $200 used Altos of good repute and in good playing condition ? She wanted an older sax but not too old because of price for one and also, from what we’ve read, the finger action on older ones seem to be harder (or at least different) for someone her age.I thought it would be beneficial to share with you two websites that have several saxophone transcriptions available for download for free. They are odd-looking things, with a little circular "punch-out" at the rear end of the playable part of the reed. ON the back of the reed it says "3", "Charpen", and "France". I have had one for a couple years. Good horn, but I "cheated" and had Ken Beason do his benchmark setup on the horn. I've got the 85% copper, which produces a warmer sound. You shouldn't have to pay full retail; got mine for $800 less than the 1st price quoted.For the past 25 years, I've played saxophone all over the world in symphony orchestras, clubs, theatres, and festivals and in award-winning West End shows. You might have also heard my sax sounds on top-rating TV shows like "24" and "Bones".
