2024 Stellaris neutron star - Aug 11, 2019 · Simply changing the planet type of the star turns it into some kind of mix between the original star type and the new one that was entered. Commands also don't seem to change system background color, the star type on map view, and doesn't add any special effects if you change it to a pulsar/black hole/neutron star.

Other than the lack of sunlight, a black hole is effectively identical to a star of the same mass unless an object gets so close that it would be inside said star. It is a game after all. So the reason for this is because Proton and Neutron Launchers used to be Torpedo weapons way back in 1.0. They've since changed them to be Large scale weapons but never changed the icon.
